I would advise any pregnant woman to find another practice. Both men have zero bedside manners and discourage you from participating in your own care. Examples: I asked Dr. Rogers if stretching was the best way to avoid a tear (I tore with my first child), he said that stretching would not prevent a tear and I would end up with up floppy down there and would need surgery to correct it. When I said that I was told to do stretching at the birthing class I took at WakeMed, he said that the nurse who taught that class has probably never even assisted in an actual delivery and that both those classes and the internet do nothing but ""perpetuate ignorance."" Wow, so much for trying to understand what's going on with your pregnancy! So I thought that at least Dr. Brannon was good, but my 38 week appointment today changed my view. The nurse takes me back to a room, tells me to undress from the waist down, that he's going to check my cervix. An hour later and still no doctor, so I get dressed and go back to ask where the doctor is. Turns out he just skipped my room. So I go back to my room, get undressed again, and when he does come in, the first thing he says is ""Why are your pants off?"" Not sorry I'm late, sorry I skipped your room, but ""why are your pants off?"" I tell him that the nurse told me to do so, that I'm 38 weeks and she said you would check my cervix. He did, although he said he doesn't normally until 39 weeks. And to make me even more mad, after waiting there for an hour he spent less than two minutes with me, talked like he was on speed, made snide comments about HIPPA, Clinton, and that's the future of socialized medicine ladies and gentlemen. Both of them make me regret asking any questions or saying anything. As a result, I'm going to try to find someone else to deliver my baby, even though I'm so close to my due date. I just can't stomach the idea of either of these arrogant you know whats delivering my baby.
