My alteration was done in a timely, friendly manner. However, the dress didn't turn out very well. It was a bridesmaid dress that was shortened and taken out a bit in the bust. The bust was okay - still a little tight, but better than before. The hem of my dress was pretty sloppy, though. The whole reason I had it altered by a professional instead of doing it at home was because the style of the dress had a flared skirt. It just looked funny, and the stitching was uneven - not terrible, but enough to make the end turn up in a weird way. I think $55 was far too much to charge for this amateur-like job. I feel like she (assuming Laura is the one who does all the work) didn't put any thought into it, since it was an easy job.
