Review content:
Fifteen years ago I received a $700 bid from Midas to replace my shocks and shock bumpers on our Volkswagen, although the car seemed to operate properly. I was advised by a friend to take the car to Ernies. After a short examination, the manager said "Bring the car back when something is wrong. Your shock bumpers are beginning to wear but won't need replacement for quite a while." Shortly thereafter, a neighbor had a similar experience when AAMCO and the Dealer recommended a new transmission. Ernie's replaced the transmission fluid and cleaned the filter. Neighbor's car ran fine. \r \r The $40 service the other poster mentioned? That's what Ernie charges for a routine 30K, 60K or 90K periodic service, plus parts and labor. The dealer tries to charge $200 to $400 for the same service. You decide. I've gotten to know the mechanics. They are absolutely top notch.
