Review content:
Rosehill is one of Chicago's oldest and most beautiful cemeteries. The grounds are very well-maintained and are home to lots of wildlife. The cemetery has a large section along Ravenswood devoted to Civil War soldiers. The mausoleum (closer to the Western Ave. side) is vast and gorgeous and houses some famous Chicagoans like John G. Shedd of the Shedd Aquarium and Montgomery Ward. There are some beautiful stain glass pieces if you take the time to stroll through the dark mausoleum.
The grounds have a few ponds, lots of trees and loads of critters. It's no wonder there are talks of turning a portion of the cemetery into a nature preserve.
The staff are very friendly and accomodating if you visit the office on the Ravenswood side.
