We wanted to put in a new lawn, and after finding out what the installation prices were like, we decided to do it ourselves. We called around for estimates on sod pallets. These guys were the cheapest, and could deliver next day. They gave us a 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. delivery range, but didn't appear until 12.30 p.m. And no phone call from them to say they were running late. Even though we'd prepped the ground properly (lime & fertilizer), the sod didn't last very long, and most of it died within a few months. When we went to dig up the bare patches, we found this wire mesh running along the top of the dead sod. This was a real pain to remove. Oh, and they didn't come back for the empty pallet either.
PROS: Cheap prices for the DIY gardener.
CONS: Products not on par with other landscaping supply companies.
