I hired Mr. Gummerson in good faith. I gave him his money upfront as requested and was very organized regarding the questions I had for him. Unfortunately, Mr. Gummerson knew the woman I had my dispute with and ended up doing more work for her than for me (on my dime). I told him I was unhappy with this and asked him for my file and the remainder of my retainer; neither of which he returned to me. I feel this was unethical and out of line. I haven't decided if I am going to file a complaint with the ARDC. At one point, my sister came to a meeting - I wanted to be sure I was hearing what I thought he was saying to me - and he was extremely rude to her because she asked him a question. His exact words were, ""I don't remember inviting YOU to this meeting."" At that point I told him I was paying his salary, and that I expected him to answer my questions. He told me I was a ""nobody"" . Needless to say that was our last meeting. Warning: This man has a terrible temper and apparently is very friendly with many of the judges in McHenry county. I do not feel that I was out of line, nor was I a client that called constantly, and I understand the legal process is slow and cumbersome. This man is just over the top. I don't know the other attorneys in the firm.
