I was a patient to this practice after my regular OB retired in 2000. I had my medical records transferred reflecting that I had ongoing issues from endometriosis with cysts, liaisons and pain. I really enjoyed the bedside manner of Dr Piquoin as she is very friendly, knowledgeable and out of the box thinker. Over time I ran into many issues with the practice itself. My Dr was always over booked and even with an appointment you were looking at a minimal 45 minute wait. There was never a opportunity for an emergency appointment causing me to be pawned off on other Dr.’s within the practice. I found myself at time defending myself for a prescription for pain medication. I have been on this regimen for years and have never increased dosage or asked for a early refill. I was treated as an addicted and denied my medication. I had to go through great lengths of conversation with Dr. Piquion and agree to her alternative methods of pain relief which included inducing an early menopause. She put me on male hormones and caused more daily pain and increasingly more side effects than monthly pain relief from a low dosage of 500mg Vicodin on a 60 count a month or less. I also started having issues with lumps such as clots in my legs and cysts in my pubic line all a side effect from the “recommended alternative treatment” I was on. I was seen in the office by another Dr in the practice and told the cyst was a shaving bump. I paid 2 co pays and had visits for this same issue before I was recommended to see a surgeon to possible remove this “shaving bump”. I did have it removed and they found a non cancerous tumor the size of a peach pit. A shaving bump huh??? I also had to have a laparoscopy to remove a cyst from my ovary. I was schedule a pre op appointment that I waited 1 hour and 15 minutes to see the DR for 5 minutes and sign on the dotted line. I was not examined at all. I was also charged$20 co pay and a 275 bill sent to the insurance company for this 5 min visit. I missed a $20 co pay that was then billed to me. I did dispute it because I was tired of paying time and time again to pick up a prescription. The Dr. wrote on my paper to waive the fee but billing continued to bill me. I wrote this fee off recently in my November 2009 bankruptcy. Remind you I was due for an annual checkup in July and was NEVER NOTIFIED. Is this an alternative to cervical cancer??? I have worked with much smaller practices and receive reminders for annual checkups. Back to my $20 co pay I received a CERTIFIED LETTER STATING I WAS TO PAY THE FEE AND NOT CLAIM IN MY BANKRUPTCY OR BE RELEASED FROM THE PRACTICE. I missed the release from practice part of the letter. I just called the office to make a annual and was told my Dr was booked until MAY! OMG MAY? I think I was due in Sept.? “I will have an office manager contact you.” This is the response I received. The next day my voice mail from the office manager confirming “my annual was due in July however; I have been released from the practice!” Do you really want these people in charge of your care? I think not. When money and as little as $20 comes in the middle of your well being that is not a DOCTOR that is Collection Agency. Cons: MONEY FIRST...Medical Care second!
