Old Style Little Italy is kicking and screaming at this hidden Astoria hideaway, tucked away from the busy section of Ditmars Boulevard. My girlfriend and I were genuinely greeted by two of the wait staff as soon as we walked through the door to find the very homely, quiet and slightly dim lit bar area that usually suggests you might spend half of your tax refund earlier than expected to. After taking a look at the menu, we were sold by not only the price but also the large variety of traditional style choices.\r They don't sell wine by the glass but it doesn't matter because you can get several of many offered bottles for under $30. The Sangeovese was one of them and it was excellent. Our server, Peggy, was wonderful. Highly Attentive, Knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. A bread basket with not one but three choices quickly made it's way to our table followed already by a refill on ice cold water from the friendly staff that would come the entire meal. We shared a very tasty generous portion of Mozzarella en Corozza for an appetizer and soon followed it up with two special of the day entrees of Asparagus filled Raviolis topped with what might have been an enhancing tomato cream sauce. I am eating the second have of my dish right now as I type because of how hearty the dish was. Romantic setting, superb service, equally great food, and no room for any dessert of which there was three tier tray we saw from a far to choose from. $66 dollars later we left the downstairs dinning room wondering if the great light music we had heard was young Frank Sinatra or Michael Buble. On the way out we thanked the staff for everything and felt as though we had just left a family's home from dinner. This is our new favorite Italian Restaurant in New York City and we're already planning our next visit. I still have three Raviolis left to eat and two hours later they're just starting to reach room temperature.\r Pros: Great Service, Quiet and Romantic atmosphere Cons: Menu states that food may take awhile because it's custom made to order.
