I recently hired a designer from the ASID's referral service. That turned out to be one of the biggest mistakes of my life! She behaved extremely dishonestly, costing me thousands of thousands of dollars. Unsurprisingly, I then found out she's been sued for fraud twice within five years. I reported her behavior to the ASID because they advertise that their designers are held to a high ""ethics code."" Despite her clear violations of their code, they simply wrote me a letter saying their was no ethics breach. They even continue to advertise this dishonest designer on their referral service. I have since learned that many people have gone through what I have with the ASID. Sometimes the ASID sends consumers the same form letter, and then the consumers go on to successfully sue the ASID designers in court. I would recommend if you're looking for a designer, go through the CCIDC. At least it's regulated by the government, and they have an ethics code that designers are actually held to. Cons: Not at all on the consumer's side
