Oh, how I love thee, Trader Joe's. Let me count the ways... You came to Tacoma, so I love you even more! Spacious aisles, delicious foods, organics in a wide selection of items, great packaging, superior beer and wine selection, the free nibbles and coffee, great packaged frozen foods, and the best feature - Organic Rice and Soy Milks for cheap!!! My kids don't do dairy. Dairy is plain bad mojo, so they drink Enriched Rice Dream, which TJs carries in the 1/2 gallon for $2.49 each. That's cheaper than dairy milk, and Rice Dream can be stored for a long time, so no wasted milk. So we go here to get it, and I buy about 10 of them at a time. And can anyone compare to Three Buck Chuck, and the sport top water bottles? Genius, I tell ya, pure genius. I like that everything is in portioned amounts, like the meat is always in the right amounts, not some butcher just slamming meat into a container and hoping that someone buys 3.35lbs of ground beef at once. The meat containers are large and have sides to them, so you can defrost the meats in them. It's less mess in the kitchen and better infection control. I'll pay extra for that. I trust the food here, much more so than anywhere else. I'm willing to pay a little extra for this. Some items are more, some are less. Excellent vitamin and bath/body/home care collections, at great prices. They have great coffees. Much better produce selection too. I feel at home in TJs, partly also because I'm a "hip mama" who wears my baby in a sling. I won't get weird looks here, but rather encouraged. This is a terrific place for "Gen Xers" like me. And the staff is hip too.
