I asked for a 3000 square foot design - I got 5000 sq feet
I asked for the building to be located at a specific place - I got drawing with the building more than 80 ft from that location
I specified a not to exceed budget - they almost doubled it.
We agreed to exchange ideas in computer readable format CAD files - that worked until just before a major deadline, then I was told it was against their policy - I missed the deadline.
We agreed on a retainer amount - in the middle of the project they demanded a more than 3x increase.
I spent a lot of money - and in the end I got letters to contractors and vendors saying I could not use any of their designs because they own the copyrights
My project has been set back by at least a year.
