Review content:
We were really jazzed when the Sidedoor opened and had high expectations, especially given that it's part of Five Crowns. We've been there three times now. The first time for wine and the charcuterie station. The second time for wine and dessert. Most recently, for a more hearty meal. All times, the hostess was helpful at getting us a seat. Also, each time the charcuterie station consistently served very good cheese and meats. The bread pudding for dessert was great. However, our experience this last time didn't hit the mark. We ordered the prime rib sandwich and thought it would have to be good (since we've eaten at Five Crowns before) - but out came a small, flat baquette with one flavorless thin slice of cold prime rib. We actually sent it back, but it came back the same, just a little warmed up. Also, last time we were there, the bar was significantly understaffed (1 person working) and the bartender was clearly in a frenzy and it was a mess behind the counter as he worked feverishly to try to clean glasses and make drinks with no help. Not sure if we caught the restaurant on a bad night, but we probably won't be back to the Sidedoor for a while and when we do, we will stick to the charcuterie.
