Well, I was ""WindyCity"" who posted about 2 years ago. I went back for another visit last year. I don't recommend Planned Parenthood in Livonia.\r

I was never given the option of NOT having a pelvic/annual/breast exam for my second visit (apparently this is required every year after your first visit, even in women who are asymptomatic, sexually monogamous, and have very few previous partners/only 1 partner).\r

The NP seemed entirely unprepared. Previously, I was put onto a birth control pill that caused several side effects, including breakthrough bleeding that lasted a week before the official ""time of the month."" I explained this to her and how it only began after I started taking the pill...and nothing else had changed. She stared at me like I had just come from outer space, then suggested it was chlamydia or gonorrhea. My response? Laughing. Then she stares at my sheet and says, ""Oh...maybe not...do you want to get tested for those?""\r

No. I've already outlined the very likely cause - is breakthrough bleeding not among the biggest side effects of using the pill? \r

I had normal blood pressure for years (110/70) before I started taking that pill. Then, suddenly, it was 140/85. I explained this too. I had lost 50 pounds between visits (apparently something they don't check). Instead of addressing my concern that it was the pill, she told me that it must be my weight and eating and exercise habits. I was floored. Thank God they can't prescribe combination pills when you have high blood pressure; a week after I was switched to progestin only pills, my blood pressure was back to the usual.\r

Not to mention - they made me wait in a back room for an HOUR. An hour (because my blood pressure was high - ""We'll give you 5 minutes to cool down""...I expected maybe 10, 15. Not an hour). Of course it's boiling hot in there, and then the NP makes jokes about how ""sweaty"" and ""uncomfortable"" I look. You think? I'm about to get probed, lady. \r

I decided that I will never go back. I felt she didn't know what she was talking about, she seemed very unprepared, and she came off as rude. If they would bother to glance over my medical history before coming into the room, it would save a lot of time and misjudgments. \r

But, looking through here, that seems to be a common issue.\r

I can't complain too much about the receptionist. She was okay, nothing stellar.
