Finding a woman & family centered recovery program is what I believe made all the difference in my journey back from where my alcoholism had brought me. A trip home in a black out with my two little children in the car was why I started going to 12-Step Meetings. But with a one & a seven-year old at home, a job and serious depression, I was barely hanging onto my sobriety after 6 months. I knew I needed additional help and a friend guided me to Residence XII. I found other women who understood my shame, fears and overwhelming sense of failure. I found the treatment I needed to understand the physiological, psychological and soul-numbing ramifications of this disease. 28 years later I still find support and a sisterhood of recovery through my volunteer work with Residence XII.
