Filed on : October 12 2010\r \r Filed by : \r Shannon Porter\r 2000 5th Ave \r Conway SC 29526\r \r Filed against : \r Maaco\r 1329 Highway 501 \r Myrtle Beach SC 29577-9743\r \r My complaint is in regard to an instance regarding Maaco of Myrtle Beach, failing to honor their warranty. I, the consumer, brought my car in around January 5, 2008 for a new bumper replacement and paint job due to a collision accident I had. (Prior to accident on the date above, Maaco even painted the same bumper before as well as the hood on 8/27/2007). I have given this entity thousands of dollars in business before, but have been fortunate enough not to have to bring my car back for any paint issues up until this recent incident on 10/12/10. Prior to bringing in the car, I called ""Joe"" the service rep that I needed to bring the car in to have the bumper repainted because the paint was chipping and cracking away on the bumper as well as the hood . (The hood was painted by them on another occasion in 2007) In any event, I was assured in the beginning and at the time of service that my paint warranty would be effective as long as any future repair only involved paint without denting or collision. I understood that, as I don't expect an entity to bang out my dents repeatedly under warranty. However, I would reasonably expect them to honor their paint warranty regarding wear and tear, chipping and cracking. In my case, the car was bought in a week after I called and informed Joe. After a brief review of the car, he tried to insist that my car was hit. Instantly I became wary when he tried to fast talk me and insist that the top of my hood was hit as well as my bumper (two different regions on the car), chipping the paint and not denting my car. Again, those are 2 different regions on my car. How is it possible for something to hit the top of the hood of my car and hit my bumper chipping the paint WITHOUT making any dents? It sounded bizarre to me, as I utilized my common sense and disagreed. I took the liberty of contacting another Maaco location in South Carolina as well as North Carolina to confirm the validity of my argument. In both instances, it was stated that under Maaco's Warranty, the paint job should have been honored under warranty as long as there was no evidence of another collision. Both locations that I checked with even volunteered to look at the car for me, but their locations were too far out. My primary concern in this complaint is that the original location that rendered services did not honor the terms under their warranty and tried to insist on charging me to repaint my bumper. Again, how it is possible for an object or someone to hit my car in 2 different regions without denting my car, yet chipping the paint is beyond me! Remember, Maaco had painted both of the regions which included the hood and bumper on prior occasions. I am asking that this complaint be logged to warn other consumers of their unethical practices. This is indeed unfortunate. Also, it's coincidental that I was warned by a former customer of this Maaco location that they would try to insist that something else was wrong with the car or that the chipping of the paint was caused by something outside of their warranty. The unfortunate was true and this should not be tolerated. As a result, I notified the representative that we would possibly have to settle this in small claims court.\r \r Highly Unrecommended!
