Review content:
People don't usually think of going to the racetrack when they desire to attend a sporting event, but this is a beautiful place to spend a sunny Southern California afternoon, full of excitement and beauty and history. The track dates from the 1930's, and has beautiful art-deco architecture. It is set against the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains; the mountain view from the grandstand is truly a magnificent background for the stunning, athletic equine athletes who run there. Santa Anita is one of the top tracks in the country, with some of the nations richest races which in turn attract the best horses and jockeys. If you've never gone to see live horse-racing, you should check it out. They often have special events, like "Micro-Brew" day in the infield, with live bands and lots of giveaways. The immortal Seabiscuit ran many of his greatest races here, and there is a statue of him in the paddock. General Admission is $5, clubhouse is $8.50, and there is a great deli in the clubhouse which is one of the two best places for real New York deli corned beef sandwiches in all of Los Angeles.
