Review content:
Walking into Patty's feels like visiting the kitchen during a barnraising.
A very homey place, entering into the cafe reminds me of the diner and general store on the Walton's.
The front portion of the store is the diner. Traditional small-town diner food ranging from the best patti melt ever, homemade onion rings, and chocolate cokes (YUM) to solid senior selections.
Wait staff is very friendly and helpful and will chat if you'd like...or leave you alone. Diners seem to call out to each other between tables and everyone has smiles on their faces.
The back portion is like a giant antiques mall/flea market/avon palace. There's something for everyone!
The most fascinating feature of this place though is the community pride. In one corner is an extensive history and tourist sales rack of St. John's history including all the dignitaries that have graced the restaurant. Next up in that line is Mayor Potter who this coming weekend is even holding court with the local royalty at Patty's Homerun Cafe.
