Review content:
I remember when there was only one Loehmann's on West Fordham Road in the Bronx. As a student, if I needed a special gift for someone or a special outfit, Loehmann's was the choice (before Century 21 became chic). Then they moved and expanded. To me this was the beginning of the end. While you still find designer clothing, neither the prices or selections are worth the time and effort. Loehmann's is no longer New York's best kept secret, when tourists arrive in tour buses, I know I'm outta here. My last visit yielded nothing but crummy service and a crowd of Japanese tourists. Another New York institution has sold out to the masses. (Their ill thought out expansion to the burbs led to them declaring bankruptcy about 10 years ago and the closing of many locations including the new "flagship" in Manhattan).
