The rooms were clean and comfortable and the price was a great value. It's a romantic little place conveniently located. But the real story is how Allen went above and beyond the duty of an innkeeper. Upon driving to Alaska from New York City (you read that right) we arrived in Fairbanks with a bit of car trouble. Allen heard the engine noise and immediately found us a mechanic nearby. When we were told it would take a week to fix, Allen, whose Inn was already booked for that time, got on the phone and found us the best price from his competitors! When that ran out he did something really grand, he put us into his personal guest room in the loft above his garage and charged us almost nothing until our car was ready. He and Verna really took care of us during a difficult time. When we were finally ready to leave for the lower 48, Allen said (I'm not making this up) that if we had any trouble within the next 500 miles he'd come and get us. People like that are what makes traveling around the world a beautiful experience. We'll never forget the Downtown Log Cabin B&B and the guy who went out on a limb to take care of us. Thanks a million, Allen.
