Review content:
I liked the guy at Recon Mobile, but he pretty much didn't deliver at all on what he said he would. The price wasn't that bad, but I felt like the work was really sloppy. He told me that the rock chip repair would be smooth and it wasn't at all. There were big blobs of paint, and they were smeared all over the place.
The whole thing took way longer than he said also. He said it would be a day and a half to two days, and I couldn't pick up my car until four or five days later. It was clear as day that nobody had checked to see if it was done correctly. The rock chip paint was smeared, and I had to help him fix it. He was supposed to polish the whole car, and there was a ton of residue left in the cracks, which no good detailer does. The paint under the door handle was scuffed, and they hadn't even done that until I got there.
Another thing was that when they painted the front bumper, they painted right over the stainless steel screws that hold the license plate instead of removing them first. Now there's going to be a big circle where it's not painted when I take them off. The vehicle is a Lexus, and the stainless steel screws look nice on the bumper, but now they're just painted black. It was really disappointing.
RESPONSE FROM RECON Bumper and Dent Repair Inc:
I deserve this review. I agreed to do a substandard repair for a discount. The hood had over a thousand rock chips, 100 of them the size of a pencil eraser or bigger, it should have been stripped and reshot. The holes in the front bumper should have been filled with epoxy, the scratch is still in the drivers door which needs to be repainted. To do it right would have cost more than double the repair bill and taken several more days. It was an 80 repair for a third of the money, attention to detail would have taken care of the compound in the cracks and taken more time, but not the other items. If there were defects in workmanship or materials I would gladly re-do the job. You'll find none of the five star reviews I have are for brush touching rock chips or touching up gouges, they are for repairing paint and body damage with paint and body work. Partial repairs lead to partial happiness and great discounts. Thank you for your business and important feedback, Sean.
