My experience at Quest as a client and employee.\r \r Posted by You just Now!\r A few years ago I briefly worked for Dr. Lalezari at Quest Clinical Research. While participating in one of his companies HIV treatment studies I learned he was looking for a receptionist so I applied for the job and was quickly hired. At the time I was taking pegylated interferon injections for Hep C and saw the part time job as a welcome distraction from my struggle with the harsh treatment and was excited about being part of something so important, after all this guy was saving and extending peoples lives. Although the Interferon treatment was no picnic I suited up and showed up at his Sutter Street Clinic and did what I felt was a more then adequate job and for a few months everything was fine.I even did an interview with Out Magazine about the study I had been in and my success with the non placebo treatment I received. Suddenly one morning without provocation Dr. Lalezari asked me into his office and promptly canned me. Now I know people get fired for all sorts of reasons and although I was bewildered as to what I had done it was obvious that he had made his mind up and that it was best to accept his decision and move on, what really flabbergasted me was his response to my interferon difficulties and I quote, ""I don't really care about that"" Stunned, I left feeling dejected and humiliated. It was truly one of the low points of my then declining health and I do not mind telling you it shook my faith in our health care system and providers. I have since rebounded physically and am healthy and happy and an HIV Counselor. Pros: Big Checks Cons: Rude Staff
