Review content:
I don t really know if Craig Morgan is a good veterinarian or not. My cat is healthy and doesn’t need much care other than parasite prevention and routine immunizations. What I do know is that he is that ethics don’t seem to matter when he wants in your pocket. \r
\r
I took my cat in for a routine annual visit and immunizations. Morgan recommended a battery of lab tests and dental cleaning. I declined the lab tests, explaining to him that I couldn’t afford both the dental care and the labs too. The cost of the labs would be $120 and the dental cleaning would be $150. He acknowledged me and said it was not a problem, that the dental cleaning was the more important matter. I made an appointment to return on Tuesday for the dental cleaning, believing that he would not write orders for the lab tests, since I had clearly declined it.\r
\r
I brought Rocketman to the clinic on Tuesday as scheduled and signed the consent forms. When I returned that afternoon to pick him up, I was presented with a bill for $269! \r
\r
I complained to Dr. Morgan about it. As justification, he reproduced the consent form. Among the consent for treatment was an authorization for him to do the lab tests, the same tests which I had clearly told him I didn’t want and could not afford. He has still not removed the charge from my bill.\r
\r
It so happens that before my retirement I managed medical laboratories, doing testing on human specimens for physicians. What I was charged for (a routine CBC and a metabolic panel) exceeded the charges customary for doing human testing to standards exceeding those for veterinary work, and amounted to about ten times his cost.\r
\r
So, added to the cost of the checkup and shots my total bill for this HEALTHY CAT WHO NEEDED NO OTHER TREATMENTS OF ANY KIND, the cost was run up to $384! Stay away from this guy. There are other vets who are content to take care of your animal for a reasonable charge and who would not stoop to a paperwork sleight-of-hand in order to run up charges.\r
