Shari’s Castro Valley CA (formerly Bakers Square)\r \r Shari’s Restaurant is one of the restaurants that I often visited while in the Pacific Northwest; because, this is one of the very few restaurants open 24 hours.\r \r However, the new Shari’s restaurant in Castro Valley is very disappointing. The Strawberry pie that I ordered did NOT look and taste fresh at all! I have already ordered this pie many times in the OTHER Shari’s locations and it was ALWAYS fresh….BUT not at this Castro Valley location. When the waiter asked how is everything…. I told her that the pie tasted awful and old, her response was “Really, I am surprised…” She took away the plate with leftover pie (I only took two bites and left the rest of it on my plate). Guess what…. She returned back with a bill and no further comments or compensation for the bad pie. She charged me for the full price of that pie plus everything that my husband and I ordered. \r \r I ordered a vanilla malt and it was the worst malt that I ever tasted. Too watery and there was a slight taste of peanut butter inside the malt. Well, I guess the waiter did not really clean the utensil after making my husband order: chocolate/peanut butter milkshake and just scooped the vanilla ice cream with the same utensil that she used to make the chocolate/peanut butter milkshake. The waiter, named Debra, really does not know how to make a good milkshake or malt. \r \r When we brought the bill to the cashier, another worker asked if everything was OK today. I explained that the pie really tasted bad. Again the cashier, just like a robot, just kept on going charging the full amount of that bill without calling the manager to address the issue. The whole customer service is bad then. If neither the waiter or the cashier care at all to even listen to the answer…why bother to ask??\r \r I will not waste my time and money to go back there again. At any other restaurants, the waiters usually care and want your return business. This Castro Valley location doesn’t care if you are happy or not as long as you pay the bill. \r
