If you're thinking of eating at Josef's, think about walking down the street to La Gare instead. Also French cuisine, it is a MUCH better choice, as Josef's is possibly one of the worst restaurants I have ever visited.\r
To begin, the chef (Josef - pronounced ""Yosef"" - who we ended up calling ""Yosefi"" by the end of the meal...) has some kind of major superiority complex. His restaurant is named after himself, which is fine, but he also has his name printed on every piece of matter in the place. Putting your name on the wineglasses is tacky, not classy. Secondly, the lighting was bright and garish, creating no ambience whatsoever. The tables were small and cramped, the service was pushy (beware of the tall curly-head brunette with the scrunchy), and the food was AWFUL! I didn't know you could screw up stuffed mushrooms, crab cakes, lobster bisque, or french onion soup, but apparently you can. The artichokes in the stuffed mushrooms had a weird stale flavor, and the sauce (which was supposed to be a bernaise, I believe) tasted of starchy hollandaise gone wrong. The crab cakes were tiny and short on crab, and both soups were relatively bland. We stayed at the Hotel La Rose, which was quite nice, but will plan to walk down the street to La Gare to eat the next time we visit. La Gare was a HUGE improvement from Josef's. Please don't waste your time and money on this place!
Pros: Convenient to Hotel La Rose
Cons: Bad food, tacky decor, no ambience -- NOT worth it.
