Had our floors sanded and refinished. Floor Gem worked w us so we could stay in our house during the work. The sanding got rid of the nicks, dings, dirty spots, etc. The original floors had a semi-gloss poly and we changed it to satin. The final product looks great. Floor Gem said they could fix our floor squeaks, however the repair that was done looked horrible. Without hesitation, they replaced the boards with new ones in the affected area. The employees were polite and Floor Gem addressed any issues I pointed out to them. The biggest surprise for me is that it was much more dusty than I expected. Even though they covered the ducts in the areas where they were working there was dust throughout the entire house even inside cabinets and drawers. A piece of advice - turn off the heating/AC during the sanding process. Rather than refinishing, our stairs were buffed and a new coat of poly was applied - this didn't improve the looks as much as I was given the impression it would (i.e. didn't get rid of the paint splatters under the poly or the small nicks/dings).
