Review content:
I read all the on-line reviews, saw an impressive spot on NBC's ""Your LA"" television program, and good things in Los Angeles Magazine. I went to Petros with the utmost anticipation for a wonderful dining experience, and even better, authentic Greek food like my Yiayia and Papou used to make. However, I was extremely disappointed. Although we were seated right away on a rainy Saturday afternoon, we waited nearly 15 minutes before our waiter took our drink order. After another 10 minutes, our drinks arrived, and our waiter took our order. It was late in the afternoon, so we only ordered appetizers. Our waiter came back another 15 minutes later and asked if he could confirm our order. We waited again 20 minutes before the first of the three appetizers showed up. Immediately after that, we were delivered the the second appetizer, Saganaki, which was neither flaming, nor even luke warm. Also, no bread or pita accompanied the ""flaming cheese"". We asked for some, but were unattended to for another 15 minutes, and still had not received the Tzaziki, which is usually made in advance. At that point, we spoke with a young, uniterested Manager who said she was unsure of our expectations. She did offer to replace the dish with one that was warm, and the Tzaziki did show up while we were speaking with her, which was more than 1 hour after we were seated. The Manager also sent us a Baklava on the house, and our waiter made a half-hearted attempt at an apology. I must say that what we did eat was wonderful, and ""Petros"" has possibilities, but I was fairly disappointed in the experience.
