Review content:
My husband and I were really looking forward to eating at DaVinci's, as we like to try new restaurants. \r
\r
I am disappointed to say that the service was poor. The waitress never brought us any of the complementary bread that she said they offered. When our food arrived, it was cold. My husband ordered the scallop and truffle pasta and I had the gnocchi gorgonzola. Both were unimpressive, congealed and bland. Someone else in our party ordered a caesar salad and when it came out, it was the saddest looking salad I've ever seen. A few pieces of romaine lettuce and a bit of caesar dressing. When she complained to the waitress, she said she would have the manager come and talk to us. But, the manager never came to talk to us. They solved the problem by giving her another identical caesar salad. Literally, snubbed!\r
\r
I've never felt discriminated against in a restaurant before. We were definitely dressed nicely and ordered food, so I'm not exactly sure what their problem was. I felt that if they did not want us to come back, they have definitely succeeded. I think that they must have poor management. However, I never did get to meet the manager, as he or she would not come out to speak to our party.\r
\r
My advice is to spend your money somewhere else. There are plenty of other excellent restaurants in Salem. Try Morton's, Old Europe Inn, or even Bentleys. At least you'll be treated well and get a decent meal.\r
\r
If you're looking for a good Italian place in the Salem area, try J.Bella's in Independence. It's right on Main Street across from the park. The atmosphere is clean and updated, the people are nice and they have a nice wine bar, too. It's still our favorite restaurant, even more so after our experience at DaVinci's.
Pros: Ambience was good for a romantic dinner
Cons: Service, Parking, Food, General Attitude of Employees
