Jo Skymer Lighting is the best independent lighting store around here if you want good quality fixtures at low prices. You can find every type of lighting, from outdoor wall sconces to chandeliers to ceiling fans. They frequently run and advertise sales of 40-50% off everything! That's when you find some real steals on brand name lighting. I bet you could find something cheaper here than at one of the big box chains. The service is very pleasant and not pushy. They will help you if you ask. Parking is never really an issue, but please be advised that the entrance and parking is on a side street and you will easily miss it if you don't pay attention on the road.
This shop, however, I must warn you, is not exactly on the right side of the tracks. The building is nondescript and unassuming. Its neighborhood is not the best. But that's how you get good deals.
