Review content:
I recently had a party at La Mirage with over 100 people in attendance. When we first met with Sam (the owner) he seemed very accommodating. He assured us that everything would be great, he would take care of us so on and so on. As it got closer to the date of the event he became rude and uncooperative. The contract that he writes up is handwritten and disorganized, he gives you a carbon copy, if any changes are made they are scribbled on the piece of paper. I called to check about the liquor for the open bar and he assured me it was premium liquors. Then, upon meeting with us a few days before the party he told us it would be just beer, wine and soda because he wrote “open” not “open bar” on the contract, after going back and forth about that we got him to agree to open bar (with liquor). Day of the event…we went in to set the room up; it was dirty and smelled horrible. There weren’t enough seats set up for our guests and we had to argue with him to get the right amount of seats. He constantly lied throughout the process saying he would do something one way, and then did it another way. On the night of the party we walked in to find a group of about 20-25 people sitting around the only bar in the front room. Previously, we were told that we were the only party there and that our cocktail hour would be held at the front bar. After a good portion of our guests walking in and getting extremely confused and frustrated, they finally got the other party seated, however it was in an area that we were told we would have use of. As our guests started going up to the bar, they were charging them and it was supposed to be an open bar. It was another argument with Sam to get the bartender to stop charging and make it an open bar. Our appetizers came out and the servers were giving them to the other group of people, of course none of the servers spoke English so it was difficult to stop them. The cocktail hour in general was a mess and we got many complaints about it from our guests. We were not impressed with the food. The beef was very chewy, the pasta was undercooked and just didn’t taste good and the seafood was like soup just to name a few things. The cake was excellent, but ONLY because it came from Pastry Garden. Overall, it’s NOT worth the money saved to have a party there, and this was for a birthday party, not even a wedding. The only way I could see a party going well would be to pick a package, change nothing and do exactly as Sam says. \r

By the way, I am also finding it very disturbing and amusing that most of the posts on these sites were written by Sam himself, as they have his picture next to them. Must be very desperate to write his own positive reviews.
Pros: cheap
Cons: everything else
