I am furious with this dental group!!! I went in because my mouth was aching, and I wanted to make sure I did not have a cavity. I also wanted to get a routine cleaning. They checked my insurance, which would pay them in full for the x-rays and a routine cleaning. The staff member took my x-rays, not just once but twice, because she did not save them the first time. This was the first sign that things were not going right. The dentist came in checked all my teeth and said my mouth was not bad, no cavities. I asked him is somebody going to do a routine cleaning of my teeth today, he said yes. He never said I needed anything more than a routine cleaning, which is what I asked for. Then a staff member came in and said I will have to find out how much your insurance with cover. I said what, my insurance covers cleanings free. She then said you will have to have deep cleaning full mouth debridement. She went to check my insurance and came with an estimate of $211.60 after insurance and the follow-up visits' cost total $115.00. I told her I only want a routine cleaning. She said they will only do a deep cleaning full mouth debridement treatment. If I want a routine cleaning then I should go somewhere else. I feel they are in it only for the money. I am sure they do not get paid much money for a routine cleaning. I guess there is more money is x-rays and extra cleaning treatments. I feel they are trying to take advantage of people.\r ***** UPDATE**** 3/18/11 I went to another dentist for a second opinion. He stated I do not have periodontal disease and I only need a regular cleaning. He also said based on my x-rays and dental exam my insurance company would not have paid for a deep cleaning full mouth debridement.
