Review content:
We went to the River Oaks location and I can say that it was anything but comfortable. It was August in Houston so you can imagine how hot it was; now imagine a restaurant with only one vent working. That translates into a casual restaurant that feels as if we were suffocating. Poor ventilation aside, Ziggy's is a low key place that is great for a quick bite whether it's for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They also have outdoor seating so dogs are welcome, although when we asked the employee behind the cash register about that, he said he didn't know anything about it. Well, perhaps Ziggy's needs to show their new employees' their web site. I ordered the ostrich burger ($7) which I was really looking forward to ever since Fuddruckers stopped serving those years ago. At Ziggy's, healthy food is the emphasis so my burger was served on a whole wheat bun - not my favorite type of bread but hey, when in Rome, right? This burger turned out to be on my top three list of most disappointing foods I've ever consumed. The term "anti-climatic" comes to mind. It was hard to determine if there was even any meat in my burger since the size was so minuscule; and to add insult to injury, it tasted like 100 year-old leather that had been sitting out in the sun all day. decided to splurge and also have the Idaho white and sweet potato French fries ($2.25). These also turned out to be a huge disappointment. Actually, the Idaho white French fries were OK, but I really disliked the sweet potato fries. I guess eating whole grain food just isn't my thing. I'll take refined whites any day. My husband ordered the Angus burger ($6.50) which he liked, but of course his, too, was served on a whole wheat bun and he is a member of the white bread preference group as well. I was not fond of my food but I won't give up on Ziggy's Healthy Grill; next time I'll try their Montrose location and have something different, like brunch Cons: Disgusting Ostrich Burger
