This place is a racket and a scam. Seriously, don't go here. I went for the first time because I just started UC Berkeley and my old dentist (in San Francisco) wasn't covered on my new insurance plan. When I went in the office was beautiful, the people were friendly and they had fancy tea in the waiting room - but I was made suspicious by the fact that when I signed in they gave me a form to sign up for Care Credit - one of those programs that gives zero interest loans to pay for dental work but charges you a fortune if your payments are even a little late. They haven't even looked at my teeth and they're already trying to sign me up for credit? Sketch. I was just there for a cleaning and check up and it had been a year and a half since my last dentist appointment. The super friendly hygienist cleans my teeth and takes some x-rays and pictures. Then the woman from the reception area (who is NOT a dentist) takes me into a room where she shows me pictures of my teeth and tells me I am going to need thousands of dollars worth of work that my insurance wont cover, including tons of fillings and at least one crown. A crown! Mind you I'm 23, and when I went to the dentist a year and a half ago didn't have so much as a cavity. She gives me a long sales pitch about how if I don't get this work now I will need root canals later, and is vehement that I sign up for the Care Credit program. All this, and a dentist hasn't even looked at my teeth! Heck, he hadn't even looked at the pictures yet. I told her I wanted to wait to sign up for anything until a dentist looked at the pictures. She said that he would call me. A week passes, he doesn't call, and I call them to ask if he has looked at the pictures and x-rays. They tell me that he hadn't, and were waiting to see if I would sign up for the payment plan (cause I said I would think about it). So I contacted my old dentist and San Francisco and told him the story and he said to have their office send him the x-rays and he'd look at my teeth, no charge. So I called and ask them to send him the x-rays and they said that will cost $60! I asked if I could just get a written copy of the dentists report, and they said that would also be $60! Anyway, my old dentist said screw it, he'll just take new x-rays. I go see him, he does an exam and takes new x-rays, and guess what? My teeth are perfect. Not so much as a cavity. Seriosuly - screw these people. They should be shut down by the dental board.
