Expected the ""upscale"" experience and was instead used as practice for the beauty school students. I will NEVER return to this salon.\r \r I chose the JonBre Salon for mani/pedi for my sister and I since I was getting married the next day and wanted something a little bit more ""upscale"". Their website looked very professional compared to the usual ""run-of-the-mill"" nail salons so I was excited to be pampered. Well, we werent. First of all, our 9 AM appointments didnt start until 9:20 (we were the first appt of the day). Second of all, my sister unfortunately had a beauty school student as her nail tech. Now dont get me wrong, I'm all about helping students, but this girl didnt even know how to properly file nails! While she was very nice, I'd say based on her skills that she'd only been at the school a week. Plus, we were never warned or asked if we were ok with having a STUDENT do the job. In fact, it was the girl who told us that this was her FIRST time at the salon and that the owner (who also owns the school) frequently calls students to fill in when her normal techs cant make it. \r \r Now, I was lucky enough to have someone who knew what she was doing. I felt so bad for my sister and it honestly was quite painful to watch (since we could see their skills, side-by-side and it was VERY unevenly matched. She kept asking every 5 minutes how to do the next procedure, etc). Her massages looked like rough hand squeezes, she couldnt keep the nail polish clean. She turned my sisters feet BLUE and had to literally file off the blue skin. Because she didnt know anything, the appointment ran over by 30 mins (in addition to being almost 30 mins late).\r \r Despite all that, we still were very patient and lenient. When I went to pay, I fully expected to be given a student price, since clearly the quality of work was poor and students are used all the time. I was wrong. They tried to charge us the full $50! I spoke up and said that we had a student and they took $10 off but that was in no way, a $40 mani/pedi. I was definitely expecting to pay at the most half the original price. That was the final straw. Not only were we extremely disappointed by the service, but felt very scammed by the price. To be honest, while my tech was very professional and knew what she was doing, my manicure was bubbled and I knew it wasnt going to last more than a few days. I was very disappointed indeed and will never return to the JonBre Salon.
