On October 1st, 36 years ago a gem of a shop opened its doors in Downtown Cardiff, and since then, has remained one of the bustling beach town’s greatest shopping attractions. Modestly tucked into the corner of the Cardiff Towne Center, this tiny store is just as much an experience as it is a shopping adventure. Packed to the brim with treasures, many handcrafted from all around the world, Good Morning is just what the name reflects, “A breath of fresh air.” From the garden gnomes and troll figurines tucked delicately into aging pieces of driftwood, to the glitter strewn gingerly everywhere, both kids and kids at heart can’t get enough of this mecca of goodies. Owner Darreld, who has run the shop since its beginnings, is a kindred spirit himself, complete with wonderfully eloquent stories about Cardiff history, and the friends he’s made during the past 35 years here. It’s no wonder that as customers walk in to peruse the magical abundance Darreld offers, that he treats everyone like a friend.
No matter what you’re looking for, or never dreamed you’d find, Good Morning has it. From carefully crafted jewelry, handmade tie dyed apparel, stained glass, greeting cards, stickers, and figurines galore, the experience of walking through these doors is one you will not soon forget. And for all the Cardiff Kook fans of the world, Good Morning was the first store to carry the now historical Cardiff Kook Calendar. The 2nd issue will hit store shelves soon, and you can bet Darreld will be the first to carry it again.
