Review content:
Over the past two years I have purchased close to 1000.00 worth of dresses from The Little Dress Shop. Approximately 3 weeks ago I purchased a dress there for my bridal shower. When trying on the dress in preparation for this week's event the dress strap broke. \r
When I called the shop to request a refund I was told by Jill, the clerk that there were no refunds and that there was only store credit for returns made within 14 days. As I had purchased this dress for a special occasion and had been saving it for this occasion I was passed the deadline. Moreover, as the owner, Martha, was out of town in Cancun Jill was unwilling/unable to authorize either store credit or an exchange. She suggested that when Martha was back in town they may be able to repair the dress.\r
As the dress clearly has a flaw in the strap design (despite its 110.00 price tag, it has a cheap plastic clasp which adjusts each straps) I told her emphatically that I don't want a repair but that I wanted my money back or store credit. She said that they can't offer this and that as the dress had been worn by me they wouldn't be able to resell it (!) to anyone. Because she thought my tone was hostile and because I wasn't ""putting myself in her shoes as this wasn't nordstrom but a small business owner"" Jill hung up on me.\r
\r
I called back.\r
In tears, I explained that my shower is on Thursday and that I'm getting married on Saturday. When am I supposed to buy a new dress for this special occasion? She didn't have any options and she kept saying that as I'd worn the dress for an hour they wouldn't be able to resell it.\r
\r
After being a major supporter of this shop I will now shift gears to tell people about my negative experience.\r
In particular, I would caution people to avoid this shop if you are making a purchase for a special occasion--especially if you're purchasing something you plan to wear 14 days after purchasing based on their horrible return/exchange policy.
