Man, what can I say ? I am from Indianapolis, 1000 miles one way to Waves/Salvo/Avon/Hatteras but the drive is worth every freaking second!!! (even with two kids under 5 in the car). Like many I am not a fan of Atlantic beaches. I have been to Mexico, Florida, from RI to GA, WA, OR, CA and Hawaii beaches and the only ones that compare are Hawaii. That being said, I can't drive to Hawaii and when I get there it is MUCH MORE expensive. Ocracoke is almost magical. Can it really exist in the manner in today's world. I am presently on active duty in the military on the Left Coast and am counting the days to when we can get back. The Lord has truly touched and protected the OBX and it's lucky inhabitants. (be advised-this review is concerning OBX south of the KDH-Kitty Hawk metro-mess and development). Pros: Beauty, uncrowded, reasonable Cons: somewhat isolated, plan early!, ?
