Review content:
I went to Nystrom and Associates for medication management. I had not seen my provider for quite awhile because I had switched jobs and was waiting for my insurance to come current. I went to my pharmacy to get a medication refill and was told that they had recieved a fax denying my refill from N&A - when I asked why they just stated that it was denied. (I was not aware that w/out an appointment, I would be refused medication.) N&A was an hour away from my workplace, so I called a closer provider and made an appt. Now anyone who's ever seen a psychiatrist knows that it takes forever to get in!! I got the earliest appt I could with a new Dr and called the old one's office and explained the situation leaving a message asking for one more refill so that I didn't have to deal with withdrawal symptoms. (The earliest appt I could find was 1 month away so the new Dr's office told me to call N&A and ask for one more refill as a professional courtesy until I could be seen.) \r
At this point I had gone about 4 days without medication - not a good thing because I was getting more depressed and dizzy by the minute. The next day, I finally got a message on my way home from work denying me meds unless I made an appt @ N&A. They also said that according to their records I must not have been taking my medication consistently (not true - got the Rx from them before the other one ran out just to avoid this sort of thing!) They also told me that I couldn't see someone at their office for several weeks meaning a total w/drawl from my meds and half a day off of work to be seen in their office. On top of all this, they had recently charged me $800 over what I owed for past services causing me to have to use my lunch hour to fight with them and the insurance company to get it corrected! Argh!!! \r
Never, ever again. Extremely unprofessional and dangerous to let a client withdraw from anti-depressants. Being a Mental Health Counselor myself, I would never recommend them.
Pros: No continuity of care, poor communication
