We signed a contract with Backyard Fun in December of 2006 and made a $2,000 deposit. We decided for financial reasons to wait until Summer of '08 to install. We were told that was fine and would put us at the top of the list, with them starting as early as February. We didn't hear anything until April when they did some work for our neighbor whom they told they were three weeks out from starting our pool. Four weeks later my husband called and was told they were starting a pool in Garrard County and we were next. We began planning our twin girls' birthday pool party. On May 31st, I was in Lexington with a friend and decided to stop by and just see if they were close to starting ours. I was told they were starting a pool in Lexington and we were next...HEARD THAT BEFORE. I spoke to Sherry, owner, who told me (in front of my friend) that they could break ground on June 12th or 13th. I asked how another pool was put in front of us and was told there wasn't. What??? I called my husband from the parking lot to let him know. I called them on June 10th to see when they would be out to mark the yard. I was told they had not even started the Lexington pool due to ""torrential rains"". The young lady I spoke to was not kind. I asked to speak to Sherry. When I remineded her that I was told they would be breaking ground that week, she denied ever saying it. It was not handled with any kind of courtesy! Tired of being jerked around, we decided to break our contract. There is no start date on the contract, but we felt they were not holding up their end...especially after being told lies. When I called to cancel the pool, Sherry was rude. The first thing she said to me was, ""Well, you're not getting your $2,000 back!"" This is bad business. We saved for four years for a pool we still don't have. We worked a lot of long, hard hours for that $2,000. I would not recommend doing business with them. \r Pros: knowledge of the products they sell Cons: unprofessional, unreliable, dishonest
