I was impressed with the area and looked at several units that were available. I ended up with my second choice which was in a unit built in the 1970's. With the exception of the kitchen and a bit of paint this particular condo had not been updated since the 70's. The updates were very cheaply done and with rather shoddy workmanship. You can hear everything going on above and below you in the other units but not the units on your floor. If your downstairs neighbours take a shower the noise will wake you up! When our downstairs neighbours used their washer/dryer it would vibrate the floor in our bathroom. The radiant heating in the ceiling is very expensive to operate - depending on the units $300-$500 a month. We were on the second floor and reaped the benefits when our downstairs neighbours cranked up their heat! (Heat rises) The windows were very bad and I woke up during the winter to find ice on the inside - which could be scraped off with a scraper that you would normally use on your car! The walls did not seem to be insulated very well either. In summary, this place is great in the summer but it seems that as it was originally built for people 55 and over the builders assumed the residents would be leaving for Florida in the winter! The grounds themselves are very nice and kept up on a regular basis. The woods and the ponds and streams are very pretty to look at and host a variety of wildlife such as squirrels, aquatic animals that build dams, turtles,ducks, geese, chipmunks, and very musical frogs. It is easy to get out for a walk as there are plenty of sidewalks. As with any complex there are those people who let their dogs relieve themselves whereever they please and who dump their trash whether it is trash day or not. There are plenty of activities for the older residents but I did not feel that there was anything of interest for the younger residents.
