The downtowner is the best sit down restaurant In Madison,Indiana. It is more of a deli or sandwich shop than anything. But the quality and variety are amazing! They have a sandwich for every person. This isn't JUST a sandwich shop either, they also have soups, salads, wraps, pizza, deserts, tea, an espresso bar, and all the soda kind of drinks. If you decide to try a desert I would recommend one the their cookies. I would also recommend that you share that cookie! The cookies here are as big as a dinner plate. They are thick, and absolutely wonderful when it comes to taste. If cookies aren't your fancy then try a slice of their cake. It's also wonderful. The coffee and coffee drinks are just as good if not better than that one big coffee chain that everybody knows about... The downtowner pays a lot of attention to detail. Even the chips that come with your sandwich, is the best! If you don't like chips, they also have an impressive list of side items. Great pasta salads, potato salad, bread sticks and cheesy garlic loaf. I am sitting here with a take home menu right in front of me, and I still could never do this restaurant justice. So, if you are ever in downtown Madison stop in and try for yourself. I promise you won't be disappointed!
