The Dockmaster is in his 20's, he has poor management skills. Marina store has irregular hours, no emergency numbers posted, broken lights on docks, prices are extremely high on all items in the store, Dockmaster is known for working while drunk or stoned, he has often insulted customers while high. Dockmaster owns several boats at marina where he often drinks and/or smokes dope to excess. It is clear he only got the job because of relationship to owner. Dockmaster is friends with local coast guard boarding officers so he never gets caught. Proper electrical repairs have been neglected in all slips, so wires run all over unlit dock. Several boaters have been injured due to negligence and have required hospitalization. Numerous errors when calculating rates, Beer license has been under probation due to violations, Parking is ample but washed-out and poorly maintained,
Repairs were done to marina after its 2006 acquisition, but were done by son of owner and not to code and were never issued permit or inspection. Docks and piers are poorly maintained and dangerous. Marina is often rocked by wind tide and closeness to causeway road makes it frequently noisy and exposed to onlookers ( not safe for pets,children).
This marina is poorly run by a rude dockmaster. I witnessed a disabled man (who paid for a month) RUN OFF AFTER LESS THAN A WEEK BECAUSE DOCKMASTER WANTED TO RENT SLIP TO SOMEONE ELSE.
Marina offers and charges for Wi-Fi and Cable TV, but both are often down for extended periods of time with no refund for lack of service. Visitors in Fall or late summer months are plagued by insects,spiders and deer flies. The Marina's best feature is the large rear porch on the river, but even this is in poor repair and unsafe due to sinking piles and broken floor joists.
If you like being overcharged and treated rudely by a spoiled punk addict/alcoholic, this is the right place for you. No rules have been made to prevent weekend boat owners from cranking their engines at 5am on Sunday mornings or allowing their pets to run around off leashes. No efforts are made to curb pets so marina is often covered with pet waste.
Absentee owners are often called and harassed for monthly rent, even if rent is not late yet. Common areas are not kept clean and bathrooms and showers are often disgusting. Weekend staff is friendly and helpful but Dockmaster is reason why most leave this marina with a bad experience.
