Three of my girlfriends work just down the road in the same production office. Something about slaving away in the same building really bonds you! We've been planning to go out together for a night on the town for some while now. When one of us was single, the others were not. It was starting to become an Abbott and Costello skit! Finally we were all single and ready to mingle! We had all heard of this company and thought we would finally see what all the hub bub was about. Getting tickets is a bit of a trial as they sell out really, really fast which is kind of annoying. I don't want to wait months to get my speed dating on! I want it now! Patience isn't really my thing. ;-) We ended scoring spots to the event last night at Beso restaurant in Hollywood. I went there one time for a wrap party but my girlfriends hadn't ever been. Love it, love it, love it! Everything about this place rocks! Very sweet staff, delish food and a great room to just stare at and think, how did they do that? The event was near the bar in this cool sofa/loungy/get cozy area. We hooked up with the hosts, Steve and Sasha, and got filled in with the deets. I have a huge thing for accents so I could of just left with the hosts then and called it a night! But my girlfriends insisted on actually meeting other guys. The company offers the option of a make-over before the event which was a bonus. We already did our make-up at work before we left so we just had a bit of gloss and my friend got some tips on how to get her lashes to look like mine ;-0 Soon after the others started piling in and we were off. There is something about all of this that made us really nervous and I still don't understand why. I talk with guys all the time, at the office, out at clubs and just you know - in general and I never, ever get nervous. So I don't know what was wrong with me but I was freaking out! I slapped myself and got to talking away. We all got to sit next to each other which was fun to compare notes throughout the evening. There were a ton of people there to meet so we tried to keep it short and sweet. There were a few that I really hope to meet but as it turns out so do my friends so we'll battle it out in a UFC ring! Or wait for the results to come in. None of us are the jealous type so if one of my friends get a match that I wanted, I'll be the flower girl at the wedding. The night goes by super fast. There are appetizers served at different times throughout the evening which comes in handy in case your talking to someone that you don't want to match with. Boy are these good! Wow! These are soooooo tasty! All good lines. At the end of the night the hosts pick up your scorecard and invite you to stay longer to mingle which we did. I made a bee line for the host and my girlfriends talked more with some of the others in the group. I never thought I would go speed dating but I'm so glad we did. It wasn't what I expected and I still have no idea why I got so nervous. Could of been the host I don't know. Oh those accents! Pros: Great restaurant, nice hosts, sweeet daters. Cons: Can't date the hosts. All in all we all had a really good time. One thing I would like to see is more weekend events. We never know if we are going to be kept late at the office so a Saturday night event would work out really well. I asked the host when we left about them and he wasn't sure if any were on the horizon so we'll see.
