I have brought my pet to the Pet Estates several times. Each time I paid more than I had anticipated/budgeted. There were a few things I was surprised about. First, the basic rooms the dogs stay in are not that nice for what you are paying for!! Secondly, the owners never seem to talk - you call to make a reservation and it seems they are unclear how long your pet will be staying, and sometimes don't even have you down in the books! Thirdly the play areas for the dogs are rather small, and if you have a medium to large dog they are going to need A LOT more room to play , which means playing in the large yard ... and you have to pay for that! Lastly they do not take debit/atm cards or credit cards -- very annoying. \r \r My last experience with them was Christmas 2006. I put the wrong arrival date down (the owner reviewing the doc did not catch this either)on the sign in paper and was charged for an extra day. I did not realize this until after I had written the check and did not have another one with me. The owner said he would just send a refund, no problem -- well its been 2 months and I finally recieved a call that I am NOT getting a refund!!! I was also called a LIAR on the phone when I called to discuss the situation. \r \r I will NEVER bring my dogs to this place EVER again! \r \r I have since found a VERY nice place in North Carolina to board my dogs while I am traveling. Comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges. The new place is so professional and really made me realize how poorly run the Pet Estates is! Pros: you can usually get your dog scheduled in a crunch Cons: poorly run, customer service poor, little value for the money, generally costs more than anticipated and they don't take debit/atm cards or credit cards-, also very smelly even for a dog place
