Review content:
I work right near Hatch's new location next to LDS hospital. I used to be right near another chocolate store on 7th & 9th next to Liberty Park, and it's been years since I bought any chocolates from them or anywhere else. Watched this new Hatch location being built and thought I'd stop in there last night after work.
I was really disappointed. For one thing, the price was $1.60 for one little piece of chocolate. I love chocolate just as much as the next person but to me, there is Bad Chocolate and Good Chocolate, and of the Good Chocolate, there's not a real lot of variation or great ""degrees"". I think putting a very high price on what is going to be Good Chocolate is a bit presumptuous when just starting out.
I decided to go with what I knew for sure I'd like: Vanilla Cream ... remembering that texture and taste of running my tongue around the inside hollow shell of a piece of dark chocolate for that one dollop of creamy vanilla. Not possible with theirs. Theirs is a chalky white paste filling, not creamy not runny in the least, even a little dry. Did I just get a ""lemon"" vanilla cream instead? Maybe so. It had the nearly identical consistency to the mint of a giant York Peppermint Pattie!? That's fine for what it is, but it's certainly not ""creamy""!
