As a certified wedding consultant in the Northern CA region, I expected to work with a trustworthy, reliable vendor as they proclaimed to be at the Bay Area Wedding Faires. This was not the case. The group at A Grande Affair are nice at first and offer you low prices to get you to sign their contract but then THEY DO NOT HONOR THEIR SIDE OF THE CONTRACT. Our contract specifically stated ?IF DRIVER MUST PICK UP EQUIPMENT AT MIDNIGHT OR SUNDAY, THEN ADD'L DELIVERY of $200.00 O/T TO APPLY?. We specifically asked if 11:00 pm was okay and this was ensured. One week prior to the wedding, they claimed we owed them $200 for a late pick up. We said we would not pay that because our contract said 12 midnight or the next day. Carol, (who claimed to be the manager when she was negotiating our initial costs but then had to ?check with her manager? when a dispute arose), advised me that my event was ?not worth it to them to proceed? if they had to pick up the late night pick up the fee for their driver. She said she would ?just give us our money back?. What kind of professional business pulls out of your event one week prior? This in itself is bad business. Eventually, we agreed to split the cost (only because we had no choice, we had no time to find a new vendor!). After the event, they claimed to be missing 5 forks and charged us $25 for them. We had a highly skilled wedding coordinator who facilitated all items to the return boxes so we are certain this was part of a scheme to ?win? back some of the funds they lost on their half of the late night pick up. We were harassed almost daily until they received their $25 check. DO NOT DO BUSINESS W A GRANDE AFFAIR IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A REMARKABLE EVENT. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR CONTRACTS, THEY ARE NOT TRUSTWORTHY and THEY LACK GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICES.
