Our daughter attended another nursery school in Los Angeles in '09-'10. Unfortunatelyl she had an uncomfortable situation at school and she and the other students had some interpersonal challenges with a few overly aggressive boys and the existence of mandatory co-ed bathrooms. Our daughter, always the nice girl, felt rather invisible and ultimately unhappy. She did not know how to protect herself and we had not know she needed protection. Luckily we found Delphi Academy in Santa Monica. We enrolled her for '10-'11. What a difference an environment can make! We were shocked at how easily our daughter adapted to this new school. She immediately embraced the teachers, her classmates and the more academic and creative program at Delphi. She delighted in the process of being encouraged to learn. Within the smaller classrooms she was seen, heard and respected. If there was negative behavior occurring, its impact was non-existent to the other children. In fact, negative behavior was shown to have repercussions, something we appreciated and know assisted in her feeling safe. She thrived in a way that every parent would hope for with their child, including almost immediately developing an obvious increase in self-confidence. This empowered her to make her own efforts to solve interpersonal conflicts. She laughed all the time and took great pride in telling us stories of all the wonderful things she did during the day. She developed a fully phonetic understanding
