Review content:
As a traveler from Alaska, and a huge lover of Mexican food, I was very excited to try this restaurant that has won awards over the past 30 years. As we sat down, our waitress quickly brought us our salsa - salsa that was obviously poured from a jar. I ordered fajitas and my husband ordered a quesadilla. Both are so hard to mess up that it is no wonder I felt like I was in the twilight zone when I received my food. The beef was flavorless, the sour cream frozen, the guacamole bland, and the rice and beans...one bite was all I needed. The quesadilla was made with processed cheese, reminding us of Velvetta. I forced down one fajita wrap and declared that I was done. And my husband could not be persuaded to help finish my plate. We paid our bill, and as we left I spoke to the manager for a few minutes. She seemed astounded that we didn't like the food. Then she told us that even she didn't recommend the fajitas to people. And as for the rest, well maybe the chef was having an off day. I looked her straight in the eye and told her honestly that it really was the worst Mexican food I have ever had. There are Mexican restaurants in the middle of Alaska with better food, and not a person speaking Spanish in sight. I was not surprised that we weren't offered a refund which would have left us a little happier. As it stands now...we still refer to that meal as ""The Meal"" and shudder in disgust. Maybe I was just very unlucky, but I cannot fathom how this restaurant could win so many awards for its food. Pros: Nice location, decent service, outdoor section Cons: Terrible food, difficult parking
