Review content:
The house of brides in Oaklawn is the worst bridal store I have ever visited. The staff is rude. Many dresses are damaged.
The story:
There are 5 bridesmaids in wedding party, 2 of which are out of town. The bride and her 2 sisters went to the house of brides in oaklawn and found a dress that they liked. They were measured. At that time they explained that 3 of the bridesmaids would be purchasing dresses at the end of December. The assistant stated that the dresses would arrive in February.
When we arrived we tried on 2 dresses. One of the dresses was badly damaged. Also only size 10 is carried.
When we inquired about when the dresses would arrive they stated at the end of April or the beginning of May. The wedding is May 13th. They gave that date as the date the dresses would arrive by. Hmmm...time for alterations for out of state bridesmaids?
The sales person that measured us, measured our breasts at the top of our breast, not the largest part. Mine would have been 1.5 inches too tight. The manager was extremely rude.
The bride tried to work with the staff. She asked for a contract stating when the dresses would arrive by and mentioned rush delivery. The manager, Lucy, would not work with her. Since the bride had already purchased two of the dresses, and "all sales are final," she could have been out that money. The manager agreed to look into refunding the money only after we mentioned that we would contact the better business bureau. The money was refunded within hours.
I would recommend shopping at David's bridal. It may be $10-20 more expense but the sales staff is great, there is a seamstress on hand, and you have a selection of dress sizes .
thank you
