Review content:
My wife and I recently spent 5 days in Boston on a first visit. Overall, the dining experiences there were very good. However, the East Coast Grill stood out as especially fine. After a long day sightseeing we were looking for a nice, but casual restaurant. My wife had a sumptuous shrimp cocktail as an appetizer. Ordering only 3 oysters on the half shell, I knew after the first one that not ordering 6 (or more) was a mistake. In addition to cocktail and horseradish sauces, another sauce was included that added a unique dimension. For entrees we had the tuna which was cooked to perfection and our specificationhardly at alland scallops wrapped in bacon. Both dishes were incredibly fresh, flavorful and well-prepared. The scallops were accompanied by French fried onions, a perfect compliment. Our server, Jess, suggested a California Sauvignon Blanc with our meal choices that was spot on. Throughout the meal Jess was especially attentive, but never intrusive. Also, throughout the meal the manager, Rebecca, an obvious presence on the floor, ensured all was in order at every table and not perfunctorily. Both Jess and Rebecca recommended the flan and chocolate pecan pie as house specialties. After indulging in both, we agree. I dont recall having mentioned that this was an anniversary trip. However, Rebecca delighted us each with a glass of 10-year-old port on the house. This experience was, without doubt, one of the best dining experiences we have shared in our 16 years together. We look forward to many return trips to the Boston area and East Coast Grill specifically.
Pros: Outstanding food and service
Cons: Healthy walk from subway station
