Review content:
a friend and i checked out this wine bar/shop one saturday night a few months ago. i was a little leary of going because my previous experiences at OTHER wine bars was not good. (very snotty, pretentious patrons and staff.) what a PLEASANT SURPRISE savvy cellar wines turned out to be! we sat at the bar, where we were quickly welcomed by a guy working behind the counter. he presented us with menus and took ample time to answer all our questions. my friend got a flight of reds, i got an interesting french red (recommended by the server) which tasted different with every sip. we also got a cheese plate which was delicious. a jazz trio was playing that night. this only added to the sultry ambiance. the bar/shop is decorated in rich gold and burgandy hues, accented with deep brown wood tables/chairs and a long bar. the owner, a friendly woman named jennifer, was behind the bar (and also accompanied the jazz trio with a few songs). she checked on us a few times, and was extremely welcoming. she introduced herself and asked our names. i have a feeling that this is a place where you would be remembered if you returned. not at all what i expected from a wine bar, but like i said, a pleasant surprise. Pros: great ambiance, friendly staff, interesting and diverse wine selection Cons: a little on the pricey side (but what wine bar isn't?)
